Android Phone - Preparation
This guide will help you set up your Android smartphone for work at Greencells Development. By using a work profile, your private data remains completely protected.
Basic Wi-Fi Requirements
🌐 Wi-Fi Connection
- A strong connection to the Wi-Fi.
- You must have the Wi-Fi name and password available (no QR code).
- Please do not use hotel or bar Wi-Fi.
- Avoid heavily restricted networks.
- No Wi-Fi with limited data volume. Large amounts of data will be downloaded.
Step 1: Preparing Your Android Phone
Before you begin the actual setup, you must ensure that your Android phone is properly prepared. Please choose the case that applies to you.
📱 You are using a Company Android phone that was previously connected to the Greencells.com environment
Important Notice for Former Company Devices
If your Android phone was already managed in the old greencells.com environment, this connection must be completely removed.
For former Greencells GmbH company Android phones:
- Factory reset required: A reset to factory settings is usually necessary to completely remove all old configurations. The path is typically: Settings > System > Reset options > Erase all data (factory reset). This may vary slightly depending on the manufacturer.
- 2FA Backup: The reset will also delete your Microsoft Authenticator app. To avoid losing access to your @gc.dev account, please add your mobile phone number as a second authentication method beforehand. To do this, visit: Microsoft Security Info and add your phone number under 'Add sign-in method'.
- IT Coordination: Contact the IT department at it@greencells.com and request the official removal of your device from their tenant. Coordinate the exact transition date with them to ensure a smooth process.
- Back up your personal data: Be sure to back up any personal data you wish to keep. The best way to do this is through your personal Google Account (e.g., for photos, contacts, and device settings). Google provides detailed instructions for this, for example on support.google.com.
📱 For private Android phones that were connected to Greencells.com
Here, it is sufficient to delete the old management profile (Work Profile).
- Open the Settings app on your phone.
- Navigate to "Passwords & accounts". Look for a "Work" tab or profile and select "Remove work profile".
- If you cannot find a work profile, check under Settings > Security > Device admin apps and deactivate any profile associated with 'Greencells.com'.
📱 You are using a brand new or private Android phone (with no previous enrollment)
If your phone is new or has never been connected to a corporate environment, you can skip this preparation step and proceed directly to Setup. Just make sure you are signed in with your personal Google Account.
General Requirements
Device Compatibility
Make sure your Android device can use the Google Play Store. Devices without Google services are not supported.
Personal Google Account
For personal use of your phone and access to the Google Play Store, a personal Google Account is required.
Remove Old Company Account
If your phone already has an old Google account from Greencells, it must be removed first. Warning: Do not remove your personal Google Account!
Problem?
If the old company account cannot be removed, please do not proceed. Instead, contact IT Support at it@greencells.com.
User Data
- Your username and password for Greencells Development (email address ending in @gc.dev).
- Take your time, make yourself a coffee or tea, and stay near the computer throughout the entire setup process.
- Please do not skip any steps and follow all instructions as provided until the end for an optimal user experience.
- The setup must be completed without interruption. Only start if you can ensure you have enough time.
BYOD Concept: Maximum Security with Complete Privacy
Your Privacy is Protected
By setting up a work profile, a clear technical separation is created. The company has no access to your private data.
What the Company Can See
Only in the work profile: Device model, operating system, installed business apps, storage space of business apps, compliance with security policies.
What the Company Can NEVER See
Everything in your private profile: Your private calls, emails, text messages, photos, videos, browsing history, private contacts, calendar entries, location, or passwords.
Company Devices Are Also Treated as Private
Even if you receive a company device, it is treated like a private device. You can set up the Android phone for personal use and simply add the work profile afterward. This gives you maximum flexibility with maximum security for the work environment.
Checklist Before Starting
- Android device with Google Play Store
- Personal Google Account set up
- Old company accounts removed (if applicable)

Only when these points are clarified can you proceed with the actual setup.
